Climate Jobs and a Just Transition: responding to our climate emergency

Saturday, 9 November, 2019 - 09:30 to 17:30

While the transition to a low carbon economy is now more likely, whether that transition is just or not is an open question. We need to transition to a green economy though policies such as a Green New Deal and a Just Transition. The trades unions have a vital part to play in this transition and struggle for a more sustainable, climate resilient and less unequal economy.

How ready are cities for net zero?

Wednesday, 6 November, 2019 - 18:00 to 20:00

The UK is the first major economy in the world to pass a law to end its contribution to global warming by 2050. This means we must achieve overall net zero carbon emissions by that date, balancing carbon emissions with carbon removal so no further carbon is added.

Cities and towns are where UK climate policy and action is delivered "on the ground". Are our places ready to deliver transformative climate action?

Clean Air Day

Thursday, 20 June, 2019 - 07:00 to 23:00

Clean Air Day is on 20 June 2019 - how are you going to get involved?

Air pollution is real and harms the health of millions. But there are lots of simple things we can do to improve air quality and look after our own and other people's health (and reduce the carbon pollution from vehicles that contributes to climate change too).

Clean Air Day is a chance to find out more about air pollution, share information with friends and colleagues, and help make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone.

Financing for Society: Local Authority training workshop

Tuesday, 18 June, 2019 - 13:00 to 16:00

The University of Leeds, in collaboration with Local Partnerships and Abundance Investment, has launched a landmark report assessing the suitability of investment-based crowdfunding for the public sector. A major barrier to local authorities capitalising upon new models of finance was found to be under-capacity when trying to acquire the necessary knowledge and expertise to do so.

We would like to invite you to participate in an active local authority training workshop, to be held in Leeds on Tuesday 18th June, to learn more about the opportunities.
